Lucas Chapman was a workhorse on the bump while bagging the win. Chapman pitched six innings and allowed one earned run, four hits and one walk while striking out four.

JD Worcester ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked two and struck out four.

Three runs in the top of the third helped Juanita close its deficit to 4-3. An RBI single by Tanner Peterson and a two-run single by Jayson Schroedertriggered Juanita 's comeback. Mercer Island Islanders Varsity stopped the rally after Chapman got Taylor Peterson to ground out.

The Islanders built upon its lead with three runs in the fourth. A scored Jack Smith to start the scoring in the inning. That was followed up by Anthony Scalzo's single, plating Hsue and Petrie.

Paul Falco got the win for Lake Washington . He pitched seven shutout innings. Falco struck out two, walked two and gave up three hits.

Goonewardene was charged with the loss.

The Islanders jumped out to an early lead on Juanita and captured an 10-0 victory on Saturday at Bannerwood.  The game was decided quickly as MI exerted its will early with six runs in the first three innings.

A two-run single by Harrison Goonewardene during the first inning and, a sacrifice fly by Noah Hsue, a groundout by Anthony Scalzo, and a wild pitch in the second inning supplied the early offense.

Michael Petrie boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 4-4 day at the plate to pace MI. He singled in the first, second, and fourth innings and doubled in the fifth inning.

The Islander's Peter Lopes kept Juanita off the scoreboard for all five innings he was on the bump. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on four hits while striking out two.

Jayson Schroeder ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed six runs in two innings, walked two and struck out one.

A Message from MIBBC

Dear MI baseball community:  A petition is circulating on the Island under the auspices of saving park space.  However, it's true intent is to defeat the performing arts center at the old recycling depot at Mercerdale Park. More importantly to the baseball community, this measure will make it much more difficult to get improvements to our baseball fields and other park spaces because public votes will be required.  We urge you not to sign the petition, and if this issue does get to the ballot, to not support it.

I have attached an detailed explanation from City Councilman Dan Grausz if you would like more insight on the petition.

Thank you,

Lance Lopes

Upgrades to ICP!

The Booster Club has been working hard to upgrade the baseball facilities at Island Crest Park.  As many of you know, ICP is a City park and we work closely with them on improvements.

This year we spent over $12,000 to upgrade the batting cage with new LED lights, batting cage nets with dividers and light blocking wind screens with our massive logo.  The players and coaches are thrilled with the changes and we certainly thank all of the Booster Club supporters for making it possible.

Also, a BIG thanks to the Booster Club supporters for spending over $20k on the 10 row x 33' long bleachers!  Seating capacity is now almost 190 and we think you'll agree that it will be a safer and more enjoyable experience for all of the MI baseball community.
