BRING MI Food Pantry Donations this FRIDAY

MIBBC is proud to support the MI Food Pantry this Friday Night when we play the Juanita Rebels at ICP 7PM.  The Food Pantry is used by many Mercer Island families throughout the year. They depend on the contributions of local churches, families and service clubs to replenish the pantry.  Non-perishable food donations are tax deductible.

Examples of food most needed are cereal, soups, tuna, peanut butter and jelly, pasta and sauces, school lunch snacks and canned fruit.

Thanks to Mark Pawlosky for coordinating the food drive!

Go Islanders

Letter from Coach Seiber

Mercer Island Baseball Community,
Thank you. For everything.
I finished the difficult task this evening of telling the current MIHS team and coaches that I have accepted the head coach position at Hazen HS for the upcoming season. I had never really thought about leaving the great environment and culture that you have there until the opportunity presented itself a few weeks ago. It's minutes from my home and will allow me to be closer to my boys as they grow up, and eventually attend, the same school while taking on a new challenge in my life in a community that I feel passionately about making an impact in. I’m extremely excited to get to work.
Having said that, you have all been just as much a part of my family over the past 9 years. You have made me a better person and coach, and your success is 100% the reason that I have been given this opportunity. I want to thank all of you for the pure joy you've given me.
You all better believe that if I don’t have a game, I will be sitting in the stands in the spring when you win the program's second 3A State Championship. I know there are multiple coming, but I won't need another ring to have a smile on my face at what you have accomplished in your careers. Our memories together will mean far more.
For those of you were with me at Northwest Islanders, I can't even begin to describe what I feel about the ride we went on together. Combined with the HS seasons, it was the best baseball experience of my life. Watching those players develop both on and off the field right in front of my eyes was better than any playing of my own I could have ever done.
Lastly, I couldn’t have asked for better support from the parent groups over the years. Most importantly, welcoming in my young and growing family. Lindsay and I have had all 3 of our boys since my first year in 2009. The love you showed both her and them has been incredible. Bringing them in and making them one of your own made it fun, and easy to show up and coach for you every day.
Thank you again and best of luck moving forward. I’ll see you around a ballfield sometime soon!
Coach Seiber

Winter Workouts Begin Nov 27th

MIBBC is again organizing off-season conditioning for players interested in getting ready for the upcoming season. The workouts are voluntary for players per Coach Woody and are open to all MIHS players or potential players in grades 9-12. The workouts are conducted by former Husky Baseball Player and Husky Baseball Strength Coach Daniel “DJ” Jahn at Max Sports near Factoria. Exercises are baseball conditioning specific and similar to the type of workout players might experience playing after high school. High School Coaches do not attend these pre-season workouts to maintain WIAA compliance.
